Fire to Water

2017 sees the launch of Pacific Helmets latest water rescue helmet the R6-W.

“Given the increase in extreme weather globally, we felt the time was right for a high-end water rescue helmet that provides head protection well above that of many of the helmets currently being used.  Many rescue personnel are working in dangerous environments with little more than recreational ‘bump caps’ for head protection” says Grant Bennet of Pacific Helmets.

The R6W is a departure from the traditional configuration of rescue and bushfire helmets that Pacific make. Initially certified to EN1385 and PAS028 the R6-W has a composite shell with a single piece form-moulded polyethylene liner.  The R6W continues Pacific tradition of creating helmets that suits a wide range of needs and serves as a platform for multiple accessories with features such as attachable ear covers, torch base, Pacific’s new rubber goggle straps and the ability to attach the Titan boom microphone and speaker.

Pacific Helmets have recently been awarded a tender to supply 2800 of the R6-W helmets to Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ), an amalgamation of the New Zealand Fire Service, the National Rural Fire Authority, and it is about to begin field trials in ACT Fire & Rescue in Australia.
