A delivery to a freighting company at Melbourne Airport on October 30th leaking reddish purple fluid prompted a swift response from MFB hazmat crews.
A call for assistance was received at 8.49am, after a shipment of tinned beetroot arrived with suspicious looking electrodes attached.
Initial fears were that the beetroot tinned contained an explosive and firefighters from MFB and ARFF raced to the scene.
The area was cordoned off and the sender of the items in questioned was contacted.
It very quickly became clear the incident was not serious, and the electrodes were actually used to monitor to temperate of the tinned beetroot.
The delivery was scanned and no threat identified.
