Blue Light Card, the UK’s number-one discount service for the emergency services, NHS, social care sector and armed forces, has marked its first ever international expansion with its official launch in Australia.
The Leicestershire-based company, which currently provides exclusive offers to almost three million UK members, is offering deals across retail, travel, utilities and more to Australia’s Blue Light community. Eligible individuals currently include those working in the fire service, ambulance service, coastal service, armed forces, police, health service, social care, and state emergency services (SES), with further to be announced in the coming months.
Based in Sydney’s Central Business District, the new Blue Light Card Australia headquarters are home to the senior management team led by general manager Tracey Duff, alongside marketing and member services lead Emily Geier, senior partnership acquisition manager Sandy Bassal and people advisor Prerna Gupta.
Much like their UK counterparts, Australia’s Blue Light community has been under enormous pressure over the past few years, dealing with the fallout of the pandemic, extreme weather conditions and economic turmoil. Blue Light Card aims to recognise and reward the sacrifices that the over one million eligible front-line workers and their families make every day by offering exclusive discounts, savings and experiences across top brands and retailers
Nearly 50 major partners have already been announced including the likes of Apple, Banana Republic, Expedia, GAP, ghd, HelloFresh, KitchenAid, Lee, LOOKFANTASTIC, Lovehoney, P&O Cruises Australia, Speedo, The Body Shop and Wrangler.
Talking about the launch, Steve Denny, Blue Light Card CSO, co-founder and former police officer, said: ‘We founded Blue Light Card in 2008 to recognise the incredible work and commitment of the UK’s emergency service workers, and we are incredibly proud of how the community has grown and developed to include almost three million members. For nearly 15 years, we have received terrific support from our partners, which has enabled us to help and reward some of the most selfless people in society – from foster parents to paramedics.
‘We are extremely excited to bring Blue Light Card to Australia and look forward to inviting emergency responders, key workers and their families to join our international community. And, with the current economic climate, it is more important than ever to do all we can to ease the financial strain for our members by providing offers that help reduce the cost of everyday essentials and enable the occasional treat.
‘It’s inspiring to see how quickly big-name partners have come on board already. From the moment we shared Blue Light Card’s vision, we were overwhelmed by the support of brands looking to give back to those that give so much. We’ve had a fantastic start to our journey in Australia and look forward to growing our community in the years to come.’
