Slovakian fire and rescue teams have fired up their creativity with the help of Crestron’s market leading control & automation technology, to create a uniquely innovative fire training resource.
This Slovakian fire engine project by A+V Sp zoo is the epitome of innovation, a truly unique and unusual project benefitting from Crestron’s DigitalMedia™ technology and products. The project certainly proves that innovation is definitely not size specific, so much so that in the recent Crestron 2017 Integration Awards, the project won ‘Best Innovative Solution’.
Fire Prevention Training
Working extensive, unsociable hours and in dangerous environments, it is common knowledge that fire fighters do not lead the easiest lives. Fighting fires, aiding victims of car accidents as well as resolving the effects of natural disasters, they are certainly never short of important tasks. But what is often forgotten, is the work that fire services all over the world carry out behind the scenes for fire prevention and safety. From analysing environmental factors and measuring the probability of fire spreading, to organizing events that raise awareness of fire prevention tactics, all are activities that play a vital role.
To properly carry out this essential prevention work, a fire crew in Slovakia, made the decision that a mobile headquarters was required – and set about adapting a fire engine as the ideal solution. Crestron technology and installers A+V Sp zoo, were luckily on hand to provide the most innovative and intuitive technology to turn this imaginative idea into a reality.
‘A small size, yet a space that offers endless possibilities’, was the idea behind the project. A space where vital decisions can be made and information can be properly evaluated, often in hazardous environmental conditions. The construction of the truck itself came from WISS, leading experts in the field of special vehicles engineering, who personalised the vehicle to suit requirements. The truck is as durable as a standard fire engine, but now features an interior that is perfectly integrated with cutting edge Audio-Visual equipment and control systems from Crestron.
Because of the space and weight restrictions of the vehicle, a main challenge was to keep the AV equipment to a minimum without compromising on overall functionality. Each device was considered and selected with regards to its stability, reliability, low power consumption and small footprint. The obvious choice was Crestron’s DigitalMedia Platform with its built-in audio conferencing interface. This single system flawlessly complied with all the necessary requirements and was capable of managing all of the AV and control signals for this small, yet powerful facility.
Crestron sound systems provide audio for multimedia presentations and communication between conference room and technical space. Control for all audio and lighting systems are offered by the integrated Crestron touch panels with simple to use buttons. The architecture of the system allows future growth, ready for further devices that could complement the existing system such as specialised workstations or video conferencing.
Other innovative additions include exterior systems such as video sockets, cameras, monitors and AV systems enabling the crew to record footage and use it later for further analysing or training purposes. The exterior function also offers the opportunity for a larger assembly of people for cases where the small interior of the vehicle may not be suitable. These exterior systems can be used when organizing events and educational scenarios to provide an engaging platform.
It is positive to see the emergency services moving toward a stronger future and benefitting from state-of-the-art technologies as it rightly should. This custom made fire engine provides fire fighters and crew with a vehicle to feel proud of and cutting edge technology to achieve the very best possible results.
