Essex Fire & Rescue have recently made a significant investment in technology protecting the safety of their firefighters and the people of Essex, the delivery of 80 advanced thermal imaging cameras will provide frontline crews demonstrating that Essex is at the forefront of technological advancements in this field.
Acting Chief Fire Officer Adam Eckley added: “These thermal imaging cameras are the best on the market. They are just the latest investment we have made in our frontline crews’ safety and ensuring that we provide a robust response to all emergency incidents. This is part of the on-going work we are doing in improving our operational capacity, investing in the safety of our crews and ensuring they have the best equipment available.”
Scott Safety’s X380 thermal imaging cameras, Powered by ISG Technology, will enable firefighters to have far better situational awareness of a fire scene when they enter. Capabilities such as a hot spot tracker, enabling them find the hottest point of a fire; make this camera the best on the market. This feature not only helps firefighters to navigate through a scene safely but also identifies potential risks and monitors changes in fire behaviour.
“Advanced thermal Imaging from Scott Safety is now a dominant technology platform in the fight to save lives and property” comments Justin Harper, Scott Safety’s Business Development Manager. “This is due in part to the greater level of scene data it provides firefighters compared to other cameras available; for instance hot and cold spot tracking. The X380 has continued to standout during rigorous testing set by UK fire services and it has become the firm favourite for improved visual awareness and firefighter safety”.
The simplicity, robustness and image quality were all contributing factors to the selection of Scott Safety as a thermal imaging partner by Essex FRS. “Our eyes are literally opened by using thermal imaging camera, and the X380 is just so clear and easy to use that it saves us valuable time when at a scene.” Steve Foster, Technical Services and R&D Officer.
The X380 thermal imaging camera comes from well-known life safety manufacturer Scott Safety and originally designed and built by ISG, based in Essex and now part of Scott Safety. Scott Safety’s experience producing life-saving products, combined with the depth of new technology in ISG make this a winning partnership.
Scott Safety will be demonstrating the X380 on their stand H32 at the upcoming Emergency Services Show along with the launch of some exciting new communications technology.
