Organisers of a West Midlands Fire Service charity clothing collection are set to repeat it, thanks to its success.
More than 80 less fortunate people received coats and other clothing which were handed out by firefighters and WMFS staff at Ladywood Community Fire Station on 2 December.
Candy Woods, who works as an administrator at WMFS HQ, said: “We’d like to thank everyone who supported the appeal in December. We gave out more than 80 coats as well as warm clothing, and also arranged our new Safe and Well home visits for nearly 20 people.
“Feedback on the day reflected how grateful the community was, and it left us all feeling quite emotional. It was such a great success that we’re now doing it again, on 12 February.
“This is a real, meaningful way of giving help direct to those in our community who need it. We’re hoping to collect even more coats, clothes, shoes and unused toiletries in the run up to the day.”
Donations should be clean and ready to wear. People who would like to donate can do so at Ladywood Fire Station on Icknield Port Road, Birmingham, B16 0RA or West Midlands Fire Service HQ reception, 99 Vauxhall Road, Birmingham B7 4HW.
