Kingsbridge fire crews will be saying it with flowers again this year following a generous donation of £1,000 from Firehawk alarms a brand of Fireblitz Extinguisher Ltd.
A safety message will be spelt out in a flower bed close to the fire station as part of Kingsbridge in Bloom following the town’s award-winning exploits last year.
The sponsorship will also help the setting up of new fire cadet units for young people across Devon and Somerset.
Brendan Simpson, Sales Director for Firehawk Alarms, said: “We are one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of fire safety products. We are proud to supply high quality, user friendly products including smoke alarms and Sensory deaf alarms to Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service. We are sensitive to the environment and are working to be a more environmentally friendly company.
“We are very pleased to be able to make a donation of £1,000. The Kingsbridge project brings together two important areas of our work, helping to keep people safe through smoke alarms and improving the environment. We also immediately recognised the value and importance of fire cadet units and how they help develop young people’s knowledge and potential.”
The company was approached by SAFE South West, a charity that works closely with the Service and local communities around issues of community safety. These two new exciting initiatives which will help save people’s lives and provide new opportunities for young people.
Steve Smith, Co-ordinator of SAFE South West, said: “We are delighted to receive support from Firehawk. Their financial contribution has made a real difference and will enable us to move these two projects forward.
“The new flower bed is going to look stunning and will help remind people just how important smoke alarms are. Our new cadet units are providing opportunities for young people to find out more about the work of the fire and rescue service, learn new skills and be better prepared for adult life.”
