The Emergency Services Show returns to the NEC, Birmingham, UK from 19-20 September. This year’s event features over 75 free CPD-accredited seminars, a free conference on waste site fires and an exciting opportunity to watch fire and rescue crews participate in daily Extrication and First Aid & Trauma Challenges.
An International Collaboration Forum sponsored by the Resilience Advisors network will take place each morning to highlight how UK and international firefighters can stay connected with their colleagues. The programme includes an overview of opportunities for UK experts and specialists to work within the European Civil Protection Mechanism and features key speakers from the UK, EU and USA. Dr Owen Jackson, the Cabinet Office’s Assistant Director for International Resilience will speak about the UK’s international civil protection priorities, and the role for resilience practitioners.
Two new seminars have been added to the Lessons Learnt seminar theatre programme. Bill Whitehouse MBE, Vice Chairman, British Cave Rescue Council and Rick Stanton MBE, Cave Diver, British Cave Rescue Council will present a session on the Thailand cave rescue operation. Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service will present on recent wildland fires. Other Lessons Leant seminars will be led by Flood Protection Solutions, UK ISAR and Public Health England’s Centre for Radiation, Chemical and Environmental Hazards.
New for 2018, the Communications seminar theatre, sponsored by Excelerate Technology, will among other topics focus on the future of connected vehicles.
Around the exhibition visitors can see and touch the latest kit and discuss solutions with over 450 suppliers and organisations. The event also offers a valuable and unique opportunity to learn and network with other blue light services, enabling collaboration and effective co-response. The Collaboration Zone features over 80 emergency services, voluntary groups, partner agencies, charities and NGOs.
