Industrial Fire Solutions, a division of Custom Fire Apparatus, Inc., offers a variety of firefighting equipment built specifically for industrial facilities and terminals. Custom Fire Apparatus, Inc. was incorporated in 1978 and is located in Osceola, Wisconsin. After decades of building initial attack vehicles, pumpers, tenders and rescue trucks for municipal departments, the fire equipment manufacturer expanded its offerings to include Industrial Pumpers and the revolutionary direct-injection RatioResponse foam concentrate delivery device. Customizing firefighting solutions for companies such as Syncrude, YONE, Sunoco, Shell, LyondellBasell and more, CustomFIRE is a premier manufacturer for those that require more advanced and sophisticated foam concentrate delivery equipment.
RatioResponse is a completely self-contained transportable, engine-powered, hydraulically driven, electronically controlled foam concentrate delivery device, its designed purpose: to accurately proportion and directly inject foam concentrate into one or more flow-through waterways plus optional discharge appliances.
Powered by a Tier-4 diesel engine, RatioResponse incorporates a ‘flow-based’ foam concentrate proportioning system, with a positive displacement rotary-gear concentrate pump; available in 40–500 gallons per minute (gpm) capacities and pressures exceeding what is needed for direct-injection into a supplied water stream. Operator selectable proportioning ratios of 0.1% to 10% are possible, in 0.1% increments, producing accuracies of -0.0% to +5%. Flow-based technology also allows for low and variable flow-through waterway pressures; therefore, the supplied water pressure need only be enough to feed the downstream concentrate/water-fed devices, be it a boost pump, distribution manifold, standpipes, fixed monitors, foam chambers, or fire apparatus.
Available in single or multiple-waterway injection, manifolds are sized: 6in to 12in, allowing for water flows ranging from 1,000gpm to 6,000gpm. For example, a single or multiple-injection RatioResponse concentrate delivery system, with 500gpm concentrate pump, permits a 6% concentrate-to-water proportioning ratio with supplied water flows in excess of 8,000gpm.
In addition to single or multiple waterways, optionally added gated deluge riser(s) with attached manual or remote-controlled monitor(s) enhance field operations providing for exposure fire extinguishing capabilities.
System controls are located within a weatherproof pedestal style console. Concentrate-to-water proportioning ratios are set by the touch screen control, which also displays water flow, concentrate flow and the accumulated usage of both water and foam concentrate.

RatioResponse is available in three diverse ‘transportable’ configurations: Encapsulated Skid-Mounted, Trailered Platform-Mounted and Roll-Off Platform-Mounted, each of which is completely self-contained.
The RatioResponse Encapsulated Skid comprises a corrosion-free heavy-wall stainless-steel tubing spaceframe, which fully encompasses all the operational mechanisms of the Concentrate Delivery System, providing perimeter and overhead protection, with lifting hooks for air-transportable positioning.
The RatioResponse Trailered Platform is permanently fastened to a hot-dip galvanized structural steel tandem axle trailer frame and consists of a 12-gauge type 304 ‘brushed’ finish stainless-steel deck plate. Standing surfaces of the deck plate are provided with an NFPA-certified non-slip puncture-grip pattern. The platform deck is accessed via an under-deck retractable intermediate platform step with stainless-steel handrails and a Mansaver padded drop-down safety bar. Three crank-down outrigger jacks are provided, for deck levelling and stability independent of the tow vehicle.
The RatioResponse Roll-Off Platform is a self-contained Concentrate Delivery System and mounted to a stainless-steel tubular-framed platform, which is overlaid with the same impervious metal deck plate. At the rear of the platform are two 4in-diameter stainless roller assemblies of adequate width to provide floatation when unloaded onto soft surfaces. The Roll-Off Platform is designed to be transported using a Hook-Lift style vehicular carrier and when unloaded, provides a safe ‘ground-level’ work platform – no need for fall-protection.
Optional Enhancements, available on all transportable models of RatioResponse, include: enclosed cabinetry, exposed or encapsulated engine, inlet and outlet gate valves, waterway pressure protection, low-flow for hand line operations, manual override, suction hose reel(s), sub-zero freeze protection, on-board dry chemical system, and on-board tote storage.
