Three new Rosenbauer UK Compact Appliances will be delivered to Cornwall Fire, Rescue and Community Safety Service (CFRCSS) later this month.
The user specification for the new appliances resulted from extensive work by the Service to match resources to risk which included data analysis, staff engagement and exploration of emerging technology.
Since the contract award, Firefighters from the Service have had the opportunity to speak to colleagues in Austria who have operated similar appliances for many years and to engage with Rosenbauer to ensure the finished vehicles match their expectation and need.
The new appliances will continue to provide accommodation for 5 Firefighters as well as the latest in portable electric road rescue equipment and the three compact appliances will be joined by a further fifteen Rosenbauer Compact Line mid-size appliances after the company secured a second order from CFRCSS in late 2017.
Chief Fire Officer, Paul Walker of CFRCSS said; “Our operational staff are the end users and have been involved from the very beginning in the design and inventory of these new appliances. Crew comfort and safety with the ability to deploy using safe systems of work have been the focus throughout this project. Our risk profile and rural road network often challenge our traditional 12.5 Tonne appliances so these smaller more versatile appliances with a crew of five are an excellent addition to our fleet.”
