Firefighters in Glasgow spent the morning of 20th May tackling a tenement fire in the East End of the city.
The first emergency call was received at 9.22am this morning (20 May) reporting a fire on the top floor of a four storey building on the corner of Whitby Street and Springfield Road in Parkhead.
Two fire engines from Calton Fire Station and an appliance from Castlemilk were immediately sent to the scene. A further four appliances, including a mobile incident command unit, arrived at a later stage.
Ten Firefighters in breathing apparatus entered the building and doused the flames using high-pressure jet hoses. An aerial rescue pump was also used to tackle the blaze from an elevated position.
Crews currently have the fire contained and are now performing cutting away operations on the roof and inside the building to minimise damage and ensure there is no fire spread.
No casualties have been reported and Scottish Ambulance Service crews are in attendance as a precaution. A cause for the fire has yet to be determined.
