The Emergency Services Show

Expertise and equipment at the UK’s largest event for emergency services

Returning to the NEC, Birmingham, UK from 20th to 21st September 2017, The Emergency Services Show offers fire and rescue personnel and industrial brigades from around the world access to the very best expertise, equipment and support networks to prepare for future incidents and keep the public safe.

Free CPD-Accredited seminars
Terrorism and search and rescue are among the topics planned for the Lessons Learnt Theatre (sponsored by UCLan PROTECT), where emergency services and partner agencies will share their experiences of responding to real incidents. Experts from the National CBRN Centre will talk about operational responses to suspected CBRN incidents what this means for control rooms and frontline responders. Paul Murphy, Director of Training, Mayday Rescue and Mounir Mustafa, Head of the Syria Civil Defense with present a seminar on USAR in conflict environments. They will cover what lessons were learned from emergency response in Syria, giving an overview of the White Helmets, training and equipment. The British Red Cross will talk about its response to the Grenfell Tower fire in London, and how this ties in with its new Community Reserve Volunteering project which aims to recruit a taskforce of thousands of volunteers who will only be called out if a major emergency were to happen in their own community.
A new seminar theatre dedicated to the health and wellbeing of the emergency services will offer advice on health and safety and mental health issues such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Strategies for supporting crews post-incident will be shared and visitors will be updated on the blue light wellbeing framework for all emergency services being developed by The College of Policing in conjunction with Public Health England.

Meanwhile innovations in command and control, PPE and drones and robotics will be covered in the Innovations Theatre.

New road safety feature with extrication and trauma challenges
West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) will be running two realistic and interactive challenges in a new Road Safety feature. The Extrication and First Aid & Trauma Challenges will provide an arena for some of the UK’s best rescue personnel to develop their proficiency levels in all areas of Road Traffic Collision rescue. Running alongside the challenges will be a CPD-accredited Road Safety seminar programme offering information on the latest rescue tool equipment, new vehicle technology, high strength steel, airbags, SRS, hybrid and full electric vehicles and road safety.

See and handle the latest equipment
Around the indoor and outdoor exhibition visitors will be able to see and handle the latest kit and discuss their needs with over 400 suppliers. Many exhibitors will be demonstrating solutions and technology on their stands and water rescue demonstrations will take place on the Pendigo Lake outside the exhibition hall. The latest developments in breathing apparatus and lighting solutions will be showcased by suppliers around the hall while outside, Emergency One/Clan Tools will be demonstrating the high reach of its turntable ladders. Recognising the growing interest from abroad in the British fire protection and fire safety excellence, The Emergency Services Show has this year secured the support of the Joint International Fire Board (JIFB) and the Department of International Trade and will work closely with them to develop overseas opportunities.
In the networking hub of the show, The Collaboration Zone, over 80 voluntary groups, charities and NGOs will be sharing details of the support they offer the sector. Visitors will be able to speak to the likes of the Fire Industry Association and Fire Sector Federation who will have representatives from BSI and British Automatic Fire Sprinkler Association on their stands.
Entry to the exhibition and seminars, as well as parking, is free. The NEC is linked to Birmingham International Station and Birmingham Airport and is directly accessible from the UK motorway network.
