Portugal’s leading fire-engine manufacturer Jacinto Marques de Oliveira, Sucrs Lda – based in Esmoriz have named their first purpose built airport fire-fighting and crash rescue vehicle after the famous and mythical Portuguese horse – the “Lusitano.”
The Lusitano J6 is a stunning technically advanced airport fire-fighting and crash rescue vehicle designed in partnership with a Swiss design house.
This prototype based on a M.A.N 6×6 commercial vehicle chassis retains a front mounted 540 hp diesel engine, L/H or R/H driving positions; but is additionally fitted with off-road tyres for greater ground clearance and an optional rear steering axle giving a reduced turning circle of 20%.!
The chassis manufacturers standard cab has been replaced by this clean flowing Jacinto Lda purpose built crew safety cabin with its aerodynamic features and good driving characteristics, wide opening swing doors, easy crew access and seating for a driver + 3 crew.
The top-hamper bodywork features a galvanised steel and aluminium superstructure incorporating five generous equipment lockers plus integral media tanks carrying 7,000 litres of water, 850 litres of foam + 250 kg DCP. Fire engineering consists of a 5,685 lpm remote roof mounted monitor and a 2,650 lpm bumper turret.
The Lusitano J6 is just 2.5 metre wide making it fully compliant for use on public roads and easily adapted for urban fire & rescue, industrial and forestry fire-fighting applications.
This prototype was launched in this stunning black paint finish with complimentary red decals. It meets all the requirements of European Standard ECR29, ICAO and NFPA standards and is fully approved by M.A.N Portugal.
The Jacinto Lda Lusitano airport fire-fighting and crash rescue vehicle is available in 4×4. 6×6 and 8×8 drive – on a variety of suitable commercial chassis combinations built to customers specific requirements.
