Rigloo is a lightweight, storm-proof bivvy bag that transforms into a structured space to protect both casualty and rescue team from the elements.
It is available in two sizes. SAR and EMS, both with a roll-out floor so it can be inflated and placed over a casualty to be being assessed before preparing for transport.
The Shelters will be manufactured to order by Vango and are waterproof in excess of 8000mm HH and thanks to a built in Schrader valve, can be inflated in less than 1 minute.
A safety blow-o valve is fitted and additional back up Boston valve allows for manual inflation if required. Both models come with Mosquito nets built-in behind both doors and sealed windows all round.
Once inflated the Rigloo becomes a solid structure and the fully wrapped Airframe pressure can be set between 5 – 9 psi.
This means there are no loose materials flapping in the wind to detract from patient observations. Rigloo design will allow teams to split into smaller groups as it can be inflated by one person and no longer requires multiple rescuers to act as the pillars to hold up a sheet or a bothy sack. The shelter protects both the casualty and rescuers but can also be used as isolation ‘cells’ in mass-casualty incidents for live or deceased persons. It can also provide a mobile workshop, for instance, drones can be assembled or repaired during inclement weather and be ready as soon as it clears up.
As with all emergency shelters Rigloo will protect from hypothermia (it will heat up with your breath) and provide privacy & protection with a small footprint.
